What is a first helicopter flight like?

Contrary to popular belief, a helicopter offers a very smooth flight experience. Takeoff is gradual and quickly gives the impression of floating in the air rather than "taking off abruptly" like an airplane.

Once at altitude, the movements are generally very smooth, particularly during scenic flights in good weather.
